Blake NZ – VR

Today we had Blake NZ – VR.  We wore a Virtual Reality mask and saw a 360 video of sea creatures in our NZ waters. Thomas our teacher told us the story behind their program and why they created this organisation to teach young people like us.

The story Thomas told us:

Sir Peter Blake was a New Zealand yachtsman. He was a passionate and relentless champion for the environment, having spent his life on the ocean.

Following his sailing career he turned his focus to helping protect the environment and raising awareness of the sea habitat. Onboard his exploration, Peter  and his crew visited Antarctica to look at the impacts of climate change, and then to the Amazon.

Tragically, Sir Peter was killed while carrying out this work by pirates ( thieves on the sea).

The end of his life was very tragic but he is still a legend to this day.

After we continued to use the VR mask and saw many sea creatures. We saw sea lions which was my favorite part, and rainbow fish, sharks, many types of whales, hoi ho (yellow eyed penguins)  and pods of dolphins.
